An afternoon of creativity and connection honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Decorate luminaries to display outside your home at sunset on MLK Day and celebrate Dr. King’s legacy of hope and justice.
Bring your blankets and get cozy with friends for a fun morning. Chairs available for those who need them. Please do not bring your own chairs. Please note that children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Four outstanding poets will join us in celebrating The Night Heron Barks and Ran Off With the Star Bassoon, two online literary journals based in New Jersey that have become essential reading. The event is free and open to the public.

Watershed Literary Events, a spoken-word series, hosts its third reading of 2024 with poets James Hoch, Joan Larkin, and Marcia LeBeau.
The event is free and open to the public.
All day cafe specials, Pierro Gallery exhibit open for viewing.
7-10pm: Salsa and Bachata lessons, live performances, dance party
An exhibit honoring the richness and diversity of Latinx culture featuring works from talented local artists.

South Orange residents can dispose of confidential documents at no cost. Proof of residency is required and commercial vehicles will not be permitted into the yard.
Event ends when the shredding truck is filled to capacity. Arrive early.

You’ll hear an eclectic mix of covers that span a wide range of music and a lot of years. E-Rex has been delighting the SOMA populace for the past 25 years…playing at the Woman’s Club, Hat City Kitchen, Maplewoodstock, and SOPAC.
Featuring the powerhouse vocals of stars of stage and screen, Charlie Pollock and Diane Davis, the band typically performs a rousing mix of Americana, Country and Rock music and can be seen at various New Jersey venues throughout the year.

The Essex Funk Collective is a dynamic R&B, Funk, and Soul cover band made up of long-time community members spanning generations. Their music brings people of all ages and backgrounds together and creates an atmosphere of celebration that is infectious.
Each Brother in Stuff Bros adds his own something special to the beautiful musical stew: Jazz influences, Classical training, original songwriting, urban Rocking, Country-fried jangles, and World beats.
Performing Grateful Dead music of all eras, Trouble Ahead intersperses their covers and tributes to the legendary Rock band with their own improvisations and vocal harmonies.
